The fitout of the ground level for the new Forte Health Building in Christchurch includes tenancies for Orthopaedic Surgeons, Urologists, Radiologists & Bloodletting rooms. These are ordered along an arcade which terminates at each end with the building lobbies and passes through the Public Café located in the base of the buildings lightwell. Each tenancy include receptions, consulting rooms, treatment/examination rooms, Clinical staff work areas, staff rooms & administration offices.
The fitout was designed to portray a strong sense of robustness & quality. Design decisions were made to reinforce the fresh & environmentally conscious brand of the newly formed Forte Health entity and to avoid the clinical feel of many medical facilities. The use of low damage detailing throughout the fitout will allow the tenants to continue operating after a seismic event.
Choice of sustainably sourced materials, fixtures & finishes have been used to promote a healthy environment resulting in the building being awarded the first Green Star accreditation in NZ for a Hospital.
Note – Hospital fitout on Levels 1 & 2 was designed by Klein.
